Type of workshop :

Background: systematic reviews can be challenging to carry out because of their inherent complexity, arising from multi-level interventions, mixed study populations and the measurement of multiple outcomes. EPPI-Reviewer is a comprehensive online software package for systematic reviews and is available subscription-free via an Archie log-in for all Cochrane authors. EPPI-Reviewer and its integrated tools can be used to manage some or all stages of the Cochrane Review process.

Objectives: to learn how EPPI-Reviewer can be used to create and manage some or all stages of a Cochrane Review.

Description: this workshop will show how EPPI-Reviewer can support all stages of the review process, from bibliographic management, screening and coding right through to synthesis. EPPI-Reviewer provides a flexible framework for reviews, so the session will show how authors can organize their data extraction and synthesis according to user-defined criteria. This workshop will include two presentations. The first will be an introduction to EPPI-Reviewer. It will demonstrate the main uses of the tool and how to use it in Cochrane Reviews. Adequate time will be allocated at the end of the presentation for participants to get practical experience. The second will be a short presentation on analyses that can be carried out within EPPI-Reviewer, with an explanation of how to generate tables and reports. There will be time at the end for practice and questions. The workshop will include planned activities, so participants are encouraged to bring their laptop (Windows or Mac) to the session to try out EPPI-Reviewer for themselves.
