In 2018, Cochrane identified the need to explore, and if appropriate, implement guidance and systems for producing RRs as part of its Content Development Strategy. In particular, the need to assess which methods, if any, can be abbreviated to expedite the conduct of the review and publication; and the circumstance when this might be acceptable to Cochrane Review Groups were identified. Therefore, the Rapid Reviews Methods Group (RRMG) developed a strategic workplan of activities to support work to inform the feasibility of developing and implementing Cochrane RRs as a formal Cochrane product. Therefore, the main objective of this consultation meeting is to provide an update on the Cochrane RRs workplan activities undertaken over the last 12 months. In particular, we will be sharing the results of a targeted survey of various abbreviated methods (i.e., short-cuts) (with options based on available evidence gathered through scoping reviews and methods research undertaken by the RRMG). This will be an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed Cochrane RR methods recommendations that will be put forward as part of a ‘go/no-go’ decision on Cochrane RRs.
During this open meeting, we will also briefly highlight the groups' activities this past year, and will outline the priorities over the next 12 months. We welcome all those interested in this methodology and learning more about rapid reviews within Cochrane.
