Anne Anderson Walk

Monday 21 October 2019 - 15:00 to 18:30

The Cerro San Cristóbal tour will start and finish at CasaPiedra (Colloquium Venue) on Monday 21st October.

On this tour, we will leave from CasaPiedra by bus to see one of the iconic sights in Santiago, Cerro San Cristóbal. This and two other hills make up the Metropolitan Park of Santiago, the largest urban park in Chile and one of the largest in the world, spanning approximately 722 hectares. You will see a panoramic view of Santiago and this wonderful green oasis within the city. At the summit, we will take a walking tour of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception Shrine, which can be seen from throughout Santiago and is one of the city's most characteristic sights. To descend from the hill, we will take wagons on the traditional Santiago Funicular system; this was declared a Historical Monument in 2000 for the value of its complex cable transport system and its importance to the heritage of Santiago. At the bottom of the hill is the heart of Barrio Bellavista, which was initially developed in the colonial era with the construction of the Cal y Canto bridge. Currently, popular bars coexist with cultural centres and national and international gastronomy in this neigbhorhood. Finally, we will return to CasaPiedra.

Beginning at 15.00 - The walking tour will last for 3.5 hours, and will include a bus transfer, Funicular tickets and a walking tour of the Virgen del Cerro San Cristóbal area for a section of the tour.

The guide will be in English.
