The goals of this workshop are to help you:
- learn to interpret and assess the results of a systematic review, and present the evidence using the GRADE approach
- create a 'Summary of Findings' (SoF) table, and
- use the software to create SoFs (GRADEpro).
After synthesising the results from the individual studies in a systematic review, the findings and how much certainty you have in those findings should be presented to readers. GRADE is a systematic approach to assess how much certainty you have in the evidence. This workshop will describe the GRADE criteria to assess evidence (risk of bias, inconsistency, imprecision, indirectness, publication bias and others). After assessing the evidence, participants will learn about how to present the evidence and write clear conclusions. Much of this workshop is hands-on. Participants will have time to practice GRADEing the evidence from a systematic review and practice creating Summary of Findings tables using GRADEpro. Depending on interest, there will also be time for small flexible working groups to specifically discuss GRADE and its application in guideline development, editorial issues with GRADE and SoFs, GRADE and diagnostic reviews, SoFs for complex reviews, or advanced issues in GRADE.
